The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) convened its first General Body Meeting for FY 2026–27 in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu. The meeting brought together CREDAI National Office Bearers, State Presidents, Committee Conveners, and over 125 members from across the country. Discussions at the meeting focused on CREDAI’s priorities for FY 2026–27 and reviewed progress in areas such as sustainability, urban development, research, skill development, legal affairs, finance, technology and policy advocacy.
CREDAI reiterated its commitment to actively participate in nation building and support the country’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 as articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The organisation also reaffirmed its commitment to continue engaging with governments on reforms related to approvals, planning, taxation and ease of doing business, while advocating the development of affordable housing.
Under its Green Bharat Mission and broader commitment to sustainability and community welfare, CREDAI has already completed plantation and conservation work across 6,000 acres in the Western Ghats region of Maharashtra, near Nashik district. Building on this momentum, CREDAI NCR is spearheading the 150-acre Matri Van ecological restoration project. Across the country, CREDAI Chapters are also undertaking plantation, conservation, and ecological restoration initiatives in collaboration with their respective state governments, local authorities, and municipal bodies to advance environmental sustainability and community well-being.
Recognising construction workers as the backbone of every project, skill development remains one of CREDAI’s foremost priorities. Through expanded partnerships and focused training initiatives, CREDAI strengthened efforts to upskill the workforce, enhance employability, and create greater opportunities across the sector. In this FY, over 2,500 construction workers received skill training, while more than 37,600 workers benefited from Labour Day and Gratitude Week initiatives.
“The role of the real estate sector has expanded significantly in recent years. While catalysing urban growth, the industry is contributing to skill development, sustainability, technology adoption and community welfare. As the apex body representing the sector, CREDAI will continue to encourage these initiatives, facilitate collaboration and work with governments to support planned urbanisation and sustainable city development,” said Shekhar Patel, President, CREDAI.
Further aligning the sector’s approach with the needs of rapidly growing cities, the organisation partnered with the state government and academic institutions to explore AI-enabled drone technology for fire safety as well as other digital solutions to improve construction safety, faster approvals and smart city development.
The General Body Meeting reaffirmed CREDAI’s commitment to aligning real estate development with the nation’s goals. Through these initiatives, CREDAI aims to reinforce the real estate sector’s role as a long-term partner in building sustainable, inclusive and future-ready cities.
