The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has introduced a digital service that will allow applicants to receive No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for building map approvals directly on WhatsApp. The initiative, launched under the supervision of LDA Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar, is designed to cut delays and eliminate the need for multiple physical visits to government departments.
Earlier, applicants were required to approach several offices and often faced a waiting period of three to four months before securing mandatory NOCs for residential or commercial projects. With the new system, once an application for a building map is filed, the LDA initiates the NOC process through its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. After approvals are completed, the NOCs are automatically sent to the applicant’s registered WhatsApp number.
According to officials, the LDA will issue its own NOCs, including those for Nazul land, Improvement Trust, Ceiling, Acquisition and Land Use, through the platform. In addition, the authority will coordinate with other departments such as the Tehsil and Jal Kal to provide their approvals directly, streamlining the process for applicants.
The move is expected to reduce long-standing procedural hurdles in construction planning. By digitising inter-departmental approvals, the authority aims to bring greater efficiency and transparency to the system. The step is also aligned with the state government’s broader emphasis on digital governance and service delivery.
Alongside NOCs, the LDA has also enabled online verification of land use. Prospective buyers and developers can now check land use status by registering on the LDA website (ldalucknow.in) and submitting required documents such as ownership papers, khasra details and location information. Officials stated that the feature will help citizens confirm whether a parcel of land is earmarked for residential, commercial, industrial or institutional purposes before purchase, reducing the scope for disputes or misuse.
The authority expects that the new system will not only save time and effort for citizens but also enhance compliance, as approvals and communication will be digitally documented and easily retrievable.
