A new industry body, the Odisha Developers’ Federation (ODFED), has been formally launched in Bhubaneswar to promote sustainable growth and best practices in the state’s real estate sector. The federation aims to create a collaborative platform that will bring together developers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to address emerging challenges and ensure transparency in the industry.
At the launch event held, the official logo of ODFED was unveiled, symbolizing unity, innovation, and a shared vision for Odisha’s urban transformation. The leadership of the federation stressed that its mission is to provide a common forum where the real estate community can work with policymakers to resolve issues and streamline processes for long-term development.
Pradipta Kumar Biswasroy, President of ODFED, highlighted that the federation’s focus would be on sustainable practices and compliance with industry standards. He noted that the state’s real estate sector is evolving rapidly, and coordinated efforts are needed to ensure that development is both responsible and future-ready.
One of ODFED’s key objectives is to work closely with the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) and the housing and urban development department. By aligning its activities with these agencies, the federation hopes to enhance transparency in project execution and safeguard the interests of homebuyers.
According to ODFED leaders, collaboration with ORERA will be central to achieving smoother project approvals, quicker grievance redressal, and higher accountability in transactions. This is expected to reduce disputes, improve buyer confidence, and strengthen the overall credibility of the real estate market in Odisha.
The newly announced governing body of ODFED will take the lead in implementing the federation’s vision and engaging with policymakers on regulatory reforms. The body is also expected to represent developers in discussions on issues such as project financing, land acquisition, infrastructure integration, and environmental clearances.
Secretary of ODFED, Umesh Patnaik, stated that the federation plans to organize regular industry events, knowledge-sharing sessions, and public-private dialogues. These initiatives are designed to create a continuous platform for learning, policy feedback, and cooperative action.
A central theme in ODFED’s agenda is the promotion of sustainable urban development. The federation has committed itself to encouraging energy-efficient construction practices, responsible land use, and environmentally conscious planning. By embedding sustainability into real estate, ODFED aims to ensure that Odisha’s cities can accommodate growth while maintaining ecological balance.
Equally important is the commitment to protecting homebuyers’ interests. The federation has pledged to work with all stakeholders to ensure that buyers receive projects as promised, within approved timelines, and with full adherence to regulatory standards.
The establishment of ODFED comes at a time when Odisha’s real estate sector is witnessing increased demand for housing, commercial spaces, and urban infrastructure. Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and other cities are expanding rapidly, with large-scale investments being drawn to residential and industrial corridors.
Industry experts believe that the federation can play a key role in shaping this growth by acting as a bridge between developers, authorities, and consumers. With structured representation, common advocacy, and emphasis on responsible practices, ODFED is expected to strengthen confidence in Odisha’s property market.
