UltraTech Cement Limited, one of India’s largest cement and ready-mix concrete company, has been recognised with 11 awards at the 26th CII National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2025, held from the 16th to the 18th of September in Hyderabad. These awards reaffirm the Company’s leadership in reducing energy consumption, driving innovation in energy-saving projects, and adopting advanced methodologies for waste material utilisation & alternative fuel use.
The units felicitated include Pali Cement Works, UltraTech’s integrated manufacturing unit in Rajasthan, which received the Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award and the Special Award for Most Useful Presentation. The unit set benchmarks in heat and power consumption, and also advanced its green energy usage under the RE100 commitment.
Balaji Cement Works, UltraTech’s integrated manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh, received the Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award for its ISO 50001-aligned energy practices and impactful upgrades in waste heat recovery and alternative fuel usage. Additionally, Baga Cement Works, UltraTech’s integrated manufacturing unit located in Himachal Pradesh won the Energy Efficient Unit Award for the third year in a row. The unit was recognised for 62 energy-saving projects and AI-led innovations in kiln flame and limestone size monitoring.
UltraTech’s other units that were felicitated with the Energy Efficient Unit Award include the integrated units of Maihar Cement Works in Madhya Pradesh, Rajashree Cement Works in Karnataka, and Kotputli Cement Works in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, 3 of UltraTech’s grinding units were also recognised, with Hotgi Cement Works in Maharashtra receiving an Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award, Ratnagiri Cement Works in Maharashtra being honoured with both the Energy Efficient Unit Award and the Most Innovative Project Award, and Patliputra Cement Works in Bihar receiving the Energy Efficient Unit Award.
Energy conservation is a key enabler for decarbonisation of UltraTech’s operations, in line with its 2050 Net Zero goal. UltraTech aims to minimise energy demand and use by evaluating and investing in novel and energy-efficient technologies. UltraTech has accomplished its EP100 commitment in 2024, way ahead of the target year of 2035, by successfully doubling our energy productivity from the base year 2010.
Further, the Company has also stated its intent to not invest any further in thermal power capacity as part of its capacity expansion projects, thus further reducing its dependence on fossil fuels while scaling up the use of green energy in its operations. These accolades reflect UltraTech’s unwavering commitment to sustainable operations and its long-term vision of delivering Net-Zero Concrete by 2050.
