Sarla‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Aviation made a significant moment with the future of aerospace indigenization in India more clear by announcing that the formal MoU for its 500-acre aerospace giga campus was signed and handed over personally by the visionary Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The event was graced by Shri Ram Mohan Naidu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, and Shri B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Roads & Buildings and Infrastructure & Investment, Government of Andhra Pradesh among other dignitaries. Sarla Aviation expresses its deep gratitude to Shri B.C. Janardhan Reddy for his zealous supportive and guiding role which has been a significant factor in the successful achievement of this earth-shaking ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌project.

This‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ 500-acre spread will be a next-generation integrated Urban Air Mobility (UAM) giga facility capable of producing electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft and leading India into the era of aerial mobility. The project with an initial investment of ₹1,300 crore and the potential of a hefty additional investment, makes India a serious player in the race of future aviation technologies on the world stage.

The world’s largest sky factory concept by Sarla Aviation goes hand in hand with the national development agenda of Viksit Bharat 2047, as per the declaration of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and also with Swarna Andhra 2047, the visionary plan of the Hon’ble Chief Minister to create a prosperous, future-ready Andhra Pradesh. There are only a few places globally like California and Munich that are turning into manufacturing hubs for eVTOL. Thanks to the farsighted leadership of the Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh is ready to become the next worldwide center of this rapidly growing industry and Sarla Aviation feels privileged to be a part of this historic ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌change.

Commenting on the launch, Rakesh Gaonkar, Co-Founder & CTO, Sarla Aviation, said:  “With the world’s biggest sky factory, we want to make India a nerve centre for the next era of flight. This giga facility will shape the aircraft of the future, create thousands of high-skill jobs, and establish India as a global force in sustainable aerial mobility. Our goal is simple, let India design, build, test, fly, and operate the world’s most advanced eVTOL systems from one integrated campus.”

Once operational, the giga campus will become India’s first fully integrated ecosystem for eVTOL manufacturing, flight testing, certification, training, and maintenance. Designed to international aerospace standards, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to 1,000 aircraft every year, making it one of the largest eVTOL manufacturing hubs worldwide.

The sky factory will bring together advanced manufacturing lines for composites, powertrain systems, wire harnesses, landing gear systems, flight control computers, and embedded systems, supported by India’s largest wind tunnel, a dedicated two-kilometre runway, and purpose-built VTOL testing pads. It‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ will connect to the future through modern R&D labs, simulation environments, pilot training centres, and MRO units, thus making it possible to build and support the entire lifecycle of eVTOL aircraft in India for the first time.

The campus is a green design project at the core of which sustainability is being kept, and it is planned to have integrated renewable energy systems, water-recycling, and zero-liquid discharge mechanisms, as well as circular-economy practices for composites and metalsBesides,‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the vast green canopies and the zones for the conservation of biodiversity have been designed to guarantee eco-friendly development.

With the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Sarla Aviation is working hand in hand to build the necessary facilities for certification, R&D, and operational readiness. This collaboration will make it easy to set up UAM corridors and vertiports hence laying down the infrastructure for commercial air-taxi services connecting the major South Indian cities by ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌2029.

The sky factory is expected to significantly boost India’s aerospace value chain by creating new high-tech employment, enabling local MSME participation, and reducing dependence on imported aviation technologies. By manufacturing critical aircraft components domestically, Sarla Aviation aims to accelerate India’s journey toward becoming a global hub for UAM manufacturing and operations.
