The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has continued with its crackdown operation on illegal real estate development by knocking down 12 illegal construction sites covering an approximate 43.75 acres of land in the Gudamba and Kakori areas of the city. The demolition exercise is part of the authority’s campaign against illegal plotting.

The demolition operation has been conducted by the enforcement agencies in zones 5 & 3 in line with directives given by LDA Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar. According to LDA officials, the areas targeted in the demolition are part of unauthorized colonies that are being developed without government approval.

In the case of Gudamba, the demolition mission carried out by the enforcement team of Zone 5 involved the demolition of boundary walls, site offices, and temporary constructions on four illegal plots amounting to about 12.5 acres located in the village of Kapasi. This occurred despite the fact that the four plots were under development by four different persons, namely Manoj Pal, Mohammad Siddiqui, Ramesh Kumar Pal, and Lal Bahadur, according to the report that was being monitored by Zonal Officer Ravi Nandan Singh.

On the other hand, the enforcement team in Zone 3 initiated demolition activities in some of the villages in the Kakori area, which include Jaliyamau, Kathingra, Fatehganj, and Nathora. The teams were led by Zonal Officer Devansh Trivedi, who targeted eight illegal plots measuring approximately 31.25 acres. This is because the plots were being developed contrary to the local land use and without layout approval.

LDA representatives again emphasized that the unAuthorized plotting and construction hinders the proposed development of the city and often leads to future conflicts regarding road linkages, drainage systems, and other civic facilities. Buying properties can lead to legal and infrastructural issues for the clients.

The authority has been advising potential buyers to be vigilant and check the legal status of land plots prior to any purchase, especially the peripheral areas which are developing at a fast pace and have illegal constructions. This is because the authority has stated that there will be continued enforcement activity throughout the city.

The demolition drive is a part of the overall plan by the LDA to improve monitoring and enforcement, especially in areas which are witnessing a rapid growth rate. Sources reported that such drives will be carried out by other localities as well in the coming days, and those who violate the norms pertaining to development and ownership of the land could face demolition, fines, and legal actions.

Additionally, the LDA has encouraged people to come forward and lodge complaints in cases where unauthorised construction is being carried out, stressing the importance of people cooperating if proper and orderly growth is to be achieved in Lucknow.
