A three-day global energy event set for New Delhi next month is targeting an investment and partnership pipeline worth around INR 45,000 crore in India's power sector, organisers say.
Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week 2026 will run from September 1 to 3 at Yashobhoomi, IICC. The event is expected to draw over 15,000 professionals, 250-plus exhibitors and more than 150 industry leaders for discussions on smart grids, renewable energy, low-carbon solutions and digital utilities.
Organisers said the INR 45,000 crore pipeline could play out through 2032, spanning project development, technology procurement, joint ventures, manufacturing proposals and strategic partnerships as India scales up power generation, transmission, storage, distribution and digital infrastructure. The event comes as India pushes to expand its power capacity to meet rising industrial and residential demand, while also working toward its renewable energy targets and broader commitments to reduce carbon emissions across the electricity sector.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy are expected to attend, alongside representatives from NITI Aayog, the Central Electricity Authority, Invest India and other industry bodies. Delhi will host the event, with Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal and Bihar participating as focus states. The presence of multiple focus states is expected to open the door for state-level partnerships and localised investment commitments alongside national-level discussions.
Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Honorary Chairman of the Bharat Electricity Council, framed the INR 45,000 crore figure as a portfolio of projects and partnerships supporting India's energy security and long-term competitiveness, not just a headline number.
Companies across the electricity value chain, including NTPC, NLC India and Coal India, are set to participate, along with international delegations from North America, Europe, Africa and Asia exploring investment, technology transfer, manufacturing and market-entry opportunities in India.
Abhishek Bhatnagar, Director General of The Energy & Climate Initiatives Society (ENCIS), said
"India has the ambition, capital and technology for the power transition and the real challenge lies in converting these opportunities into bankable projects executed on schedule."
