Larsen & Toubro’s Transportation Infrastructure vertical has secured two contracts from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for the development of the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor. The contracts reinforce L&T’s growing international transportation portfolio and its role in major urban mobility projects across global markets. Once complete, the corridor is expected to improve connectivity across several of Dubai’s key road networks and support development in surrounding areas.constructionworld

Scope of the Contracts

The first contract involves developing a new road linking Al Khail Road with the extension of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street. The scope includes bridges, tunnels and related road works designed to strengthen connectivity between Al Khail Road, Latifa Bint Hamdan Street and Al Meydan Street, while improving access to nearby development zones.

The second contract covers sections of Al Meydan Street, including a new interchange and at-grade roads that will serve development projects in the area. It also includes a cycling track that will connect with Dubai’s existing cycling network and support an integrated route between Al Qudra and Jumeirah.

A 12-km Mobility Upgrade

Upon completion, the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor will extend approximately 12 km and connect major corridors including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road.

The corridor is designed to handle around 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and more than 130,000 trips daily. It is also expected to cut travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road from 33 minutes to 15 minutes, significantly improving east-west mobility across the area.

What It Signals

For infrastructure and construction companies, the award highlights continued investment in large-scale urban mobility projects in the Gulf region. For Dubai’s real estate market, better road connectivity and reduced travel times can improve accessibility to development areas along the corridor, potentially supporting future residential, commercial and mixed-use growth.

The contracts add to L&T’s international transportation infrastructure portfolio and underline the company’s expanding presence in complex road, bridge and tunnel projects across major global cities
